Daryl C. Ivy, Jessica Miles

SJB Group Inc., a consulting engineering and land-surveying firm in Baton Rouge, recently announced the following appointments to its Construction Services Division.

Daryl C. Ivy has been named department manager. Ivy has 25 years experience on state and municipal projects providing construction management services.

Jessica Miles recently re-joined SJB Group as senior construction services engineer. Miles has 15 years of diverse construction management experience that includes three years with a large construction corporation as a senior estimator and 12 years for the Florida Department of Transportation as a supervisor engineer, construction project manager, assistant maintenance engineer and domestic waste permitting engineer.

The Construction Services Division specializes in constructability reviews, contractor negotiations, conflict resolutions, claims analysis, schedule reviews and CPM construction project scheduling in various CPM software platforms.

Gary B. Ferguson

Gary B. Ferguson has joined Brown Builders Inc. of Bossier City as a project manager and estimator, according to company officials.

Ferguson, who has more than 31 years experience in the construction industry, will be performing project management and estimating at Brown Builders. He served as president of the Shreveport Chapter, Associated General Contractors, in 2001-2002.

Ferguson has a bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Louisiana - Monroe.

Brown Builders is a design/build general contractor specializing in health care, hospitality, office, retail, religious facilities, warehousing/distribution, assisted living and heavy industry projects. Prior to joining Brown Builders, Ferguson was vice president at Melvin Butler Inc. of Shreveport.

Larry H. Smith

Larry H. Smith has been named Southwest regional sales manager of Clement Industries, based in Minden. Smith will work primarily with members of the Clement distributor network in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada.

Smith will also work with Clement Vice President of Sales and Marketing William "Bill" Garrison to identify and recruit new members to the Clement distributor network.

Smith is a long-time resident of central Texas and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor's degree in marketing/accounting. He has more than 20 years of experience in fleet maintenance and management, and truck and trailer sales with several companies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Andrew Guinn Sr.

Andrew Guinn Sr., president of Port Aggregates Inc. in Jennings, has been named chairman of the Republican Party for Congressional District 7.

"Andy Guinn brings many talents and leadership skills to this important position," said Roger F. Villere Jr., chairman of the Republican Party of Louisiana.

Lt. Col. Stephen E. Jeselink

Lt. Col. Stephen E. Jeselink took interim command of the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in mid May during a formal military change of command ceremony.

Brig. Gen. Robert Crear, division engineer, Mississippi Valley Division, and president-designee of the Mississippi River Commission, placed the Corps of Engineers flag, symbolizing command of the New Orleans District, into the hands of Jeselink during the ceremony.

Donald S. Jones Sr.

Donald S. Jones Sr. of Plaquemine was recently appointed president-elect of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

Jones is the regulatory expertise leader, safety manager and global expert partner in Dow Chemical Co.'s Global EHS Regulatory Affairs Center. In 2003, he received ASSE's top national award.
