Anthony Giglio

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently announced that Anthony Giglio of Louisiana State University was one of 15 scholarship recipients nationwide for the 2004-05 academic year.

Giglio, a mechanical engineering major, received the Duane Hanson Scholarship. The scholarship's namesake was president of Gayer Engineering in San Francisco, Calif.

ASHRAE's 14-year-old scholarship program received 43 applications this year, a record number. The group has awarded 114 scholarships during the past 14 years. The ASHRAE Scholarship program encourages and assists HVAC&R education through scholarships and fellowships.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of 55,000 persons. Its sole objective is to advance through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve the evolving needs of the public.

Richard F. Gill

The Shaw Group Inc. announced recently that the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) elected Richard F. Gill to its Board of Directors.

Gill is executive vice president and chairman of the executive committee for The Shaw Group and will serve a three-year term on the NEI Board.

He has served Shaw in various capacities including executive vice president and chief operating officer and as president of Shaw's Stone and Webster Inc. unit. Previously, Gill was founder and president of Merit Industrial Constructors Inc., which was acquired by Shaw in 1997.

All U.S. nuclear power plant licensees and selected representatives of other companies involved in nuclear technologies are members of the NEI Board of Directors. Members of the board and its Executive Committee typically serve three-year terms, and officers are elected annually.

Shaw, through its subsidiary, Stone & Webster, Inc., is a recognized leader in the nuclear industry.

Eric Holland

PSI would like to welcome Eric Holland to its Baton Rouge operations office as a project environmental scientist.

Holland graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in environmental management systems.

PSI is a leading independent engineering testing firm and one of the largest consulting engineering firms in North America, with approximately $200 million in annual revenues. PSI provides a wide range of environmental engineering and testing services, including environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and engineering, industrial hygiene services, facilities and roof consulting, and specialty engineering and testing services.

PSI, headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., a Chicago suburb, operates from 150 offices in North America with more than 3,000 employees.

Brett Guidry

Brett Guidry has assumed the Baton Rouge branch manager position at Scott Construction Equipment LLC.

Guidry, who has 30 years of construction industry experience, will be responsible for branch operations and sales for the Baton Rouge area. A graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, he has previous experience in both equipment sales and management.

Scott Construction Equipment, headquartered in Monroe, offers sales, rentals, parts and service for various equipment lines, including Case, Volvo, Kobelco and Link-Belt. The company has Louisiana offices in Monroe, Shreveport, Alexandria, St. Rose, Broussard and Lake Charles, as well as offices in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.

The company began in 1939 in Monroe as Scott Truck & Tractor Co. of Louisiana. The company also offers agriculture, forestry and irrigation equipment.

Kole Ambeau

Industrial Specialty Contractors LLC (ISC) recently named Kole Ambeau as business development coordinator for its Houston Division.

Ambeau, previously with the Shaw Group in Baton Rouge, has a bachelor's degree in construction engineering technology from Louisiana Tech University. He has construction, estimating and project controls experience, which includes civil, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation.

Ambeau plays an active role with industry organizations such as ABC's Pelican Chapter, LAMP and with community organizations such as economic development committees and little league sports.

As ISC's business development coordinator in Houston, Ambeau will develop and maintain client relations, while researching and developing project leads. He will also assist with the governing of the ISC company image in media placements, news releases, commercials, ad campaigns, website and brochures.

"Kole's interpersonal skills, integrity and enthusiasm are valuable assets and we expect him to be an outstanding addition to ISC's business development team," said Thad Rispone of ISC.

ISC, with offices in Baton Rouge, Houston and Beaumont, specializes in industrial instrumentation, electrical and heat tracing engineering, construction and maintained work for the chemical processing, petrochemical, communications, power, pulp & paper and refining industries.

Scott Humphreys

The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute of Schaumburg, Ill., recently announced the promotion of Scott Humphreys to manager of corrosion protection. In addition to his technical duties as a staff structural engineer, for the last three years he has managed the CRSI Epoxy Plant Certification Program.

Humphreys joined CRSI in 1999, where he has worked extensively with the CRSI Design Handbook and related software. In addition, he represented CRSI on many industry related committees.

William Slocum

William Slocum recently joined Querbes & Nelson as manager of employee benefits.

Slocum, originally from Shreveport, has been working in the Dallas area in life and health insurance for the last 13 years. He managed a large territory for UNUM Life Insurance Co. and managed the Dallas office for Fortis Benefits.
