South Central's Top 160 Contractors
List spotlights major players in
five-state area

The south central region's largest contractors had about
$11.1 billion in regional revenue and more than $30.2 billion
in total revenue, according to data compiled by South Central
Construction magazine.
In the magazine's Top 160 Contractors list, general contractors
with a permanent office in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi
or Tennessee are ranked by their 2005 regional revenue. In
addition, breakout rankings arrange contractors by state and
type of construction.
The region's largest contractor - The Yates Companies Inc.
of Philadelphia, Miss. - is also ranked as the largest building
contractor, followed by Brasfield & Gorrie LLC of Birmingham,
Ala.; VCC of Little Rock, Ark.; The Robins & Morton Group
of Birmingham; and BE&K Construction Co. of Birmingham.
In the transportation market, Boh Bros. Construction Co.
LLC of New Orleans tops the list, followed by James Construction
Group LLC of Baton Rouge, La.; Ray Bell Construction Co. Inc.
of Brentwood, Tenn.; Barriere Construction Co. LLC of New
Orleans; and Diamond B Construction Co. LLC of Alexandria,
La.
Leading in the industrial market is Turner Industries Group
LLC of Baton Rouge; followed by BE&K Construction Co.
of Birmingham; The Shaw Group Inc. of Baton Rouge; Performance
Contractors Inc. of Baton Rouge; and H+M Co. Inc. of Jackson,
Tenn.
The public works market is lead by Brasfield & Gorrie
LLC of Birmingham, Ala.; followed by Cajun Constructors Inc.
of Baton Rouge; The Shaw Group Inc. of Baton Rouge; B. L.
Harbert International LLC of Birmingham; and Boh Bros Construction
Co. LLC of New Orleans.
To develop the ranking, South Central Construction e-mailed
surveys to an exhaustive database of companies identified
as potential top contractors.
